Me. How in the world should i describe myself? I guess i'm your average girl-next door. Nothing wonderfully spectacular, nothing too boring too, i hope. Most of the time, i'm a pretty cheerful person, except on my 'off days' and when something brings my mood really down. Sometimes, i can be hyper, other times more reserved, depending on de situation and more importantly, the people i'm with.

High School Memories...
Your High School : SMK Subang Utama

1. Nickname in high school

Quin. Quinnie, Dah-link (only Mellie.....), Oy, Eh........ if there's more i can't remember......

2. Best Subject?

English has always been my forte cause I enjoy it (used to be a bookworm in primary school). I suppose i did really well due to the atrocious Malaysian school english standards?)
Maths was pretty good too... In form 1, i was the only one in the whole class who got full marks for mid-terms or something... wah... bangganya... AND THEN... *sigh* add maths. =P

3. Worst Subject?

I remember chemistry in Form 4 being PAINFUL. Pn Rogayah and I had this mutual hatred.. Then, in Form 5, she wasn't so scary. Sarah and I figured that she was just trying to scare us to be good so we wouldn't give her a hard time in Form 5. My physics started off really well, thanks to John Quek. I think i even beat the infamous Shi Zhou in the first monthly test. After that.. jangan harap lar... in the end it was my worst science subject.

4. A teacher you own your life lessons to?

Hmm.. I dunno... the nicest and most memorable teachers are Pn Rajes, Pn Vicky and Pn Joanne. And Pn Yeo BL too, i guess. Pn Rajes was one of those ppl you love to hate and hate to love. Love more than hate, in the end.... =) Pn Chandra was pretty fun too...

5. A teacher you want to kick in the ass?

Haha.. this is where me, Jill and Mellie share the same experiences. Ah.. those days...

Pn Sadhana. Form 2 BM teacher. I don't think she liked me from the beginning. Funny.. I don't really recall much, but i remember this one time I didn't stand up with the whole class for the 'Selamat Sejahtera Cikgu' cause I was preoccupied with something else. She called me up and scolded me for such a silly, minor thing. Goodness! Sheer embarassment! She was always up mine or Mellie's ass for something or another. =P (Remember that In Domino something thingy Mellie?)

Pn Rose Chew. Form 3 English teacher (right?). Yeap.. she like cursed us 3 that we would fail our PMR English (hah! with the standards, i don't think we could even if we tried!) just because we well, talked in class. But isn't English all about communication? Hehe.. Anyway, she was really lame.. Remember her 'Love is like a red, red rose' poem, guys?

Pn Rogayah. Form 4 & 5 english teacher. We didn't get of on a very good start, but in the end, she's not thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat bad.

6. Describe F3 year :

OK.. I'm gonna quote Mellie who quoted Jill: 'Jillie sums it up perfectly... "It was fun fun fun!" It was the great PMR year, which i only started studying for towards the end of the year anyways. Exam stress aside, i remember being obsessed with Chor Tai Tee.

Speaking of which, there was a very memorable experience with cards. Either in F2 or F3, we were bringing cards to school to play cause there were no lessons. Of course, had to sneak around some teachers (most didn't care) and prefects. Anyway, there was one time we were happily playing (not gambling! just playing) when a 'certain' prefect, who used to be one of my best friends in F1 came along and wanted to confiscate my cards. Mellie was in love with the design on the cards, so we well, didn't want it confiscated. After much fruitless pleading with that 'certain' prefect, she threated to go to Pn Vimala (discipline teacher) if we didn't surrender the cards. We thought she was joking (or hoped?) and still didn't. Well, turns out she WAS serious and once she left, we really panicked. Lol.. I think we tried to give her the friggin cards but she didn't accept them and marched off with her nose in the air to the staff room. (can you see where my anti-prefects stance comes from?) So, Mellie and I ran. To the library. To hide. Figuring that would be the first place they'll search, we wondered where to run to next. In the end, we decided to face our fate and go back to class. When we got there, Pn Vimala was telling the class 'Where are they? I want to see them now! Go search the school. I know they are here somewhere.' Goodness. This is one of the very few times in my life i've felt like a criminal! When she saw us meekly standing behind her with a very guilty look on our faces, she just went like 'Ahah!' and proceeded to tear up our poor lil cards which, really, weren't worth the trouble. Hmm.. such kids we were once, eh?

Cardless, we did the next best thing - make our own cards out of paper! Gee.. we really didn't have much else to do, did we...?

7. Describe F4 year :

The year Chinese-ed and non-Chinese-ed ppl combined! Needless to say, there was a sort of segregation which happened cause a bunch of us conversed in Mandarin and a bunch of us conversed in English! Somehow, i got put into the 'best' science class and that = stress! There were ppl there like Voon Seng and Shi Zhou getting 90+% in everything and even beating me in English! How lar?! Plus, I was sitting next to Voon Seng and he was forever doing accounts or add maths..

It was such great fun with Sarah and Christine and Nicole and Yin Shan and Chin Yen and Vina and Victor and Ming Ching and Sim... Lol.... Sarah and I started acting out Friends and random times and I remember my bra strap being snapped a lot!

Lol.. quite a lot happened actually. It was the year i got my first kiss and first bf.. was involved in too many activities and was holding numerous posts like Vice Prez of Interact - fun! Also got my black belt in taekwondo and finally passed Grade 8. With a merit too!

Speaking of taekwondo, did a lot of bonding with Jia Min out there in the hot, hot field with insects and prickly grass and horrible instructors (one of them not so horrible, eh min? *wiggles eyebrows*)

8. Describe F5 year :

Something like a continuation of Form 4... I was so sad cause i thought Sarah was gonna switch to arts stream and leave me alone! (Ok.. not so alone lar.. but still...) Thank God she didn't and we continued our crappiness. Had so much fun.. especially towards the end of the year. Tuitions filled up most of my spare time, i think. Then.. SPM! I remember too many ppl getting overly-stressed... and there was too much seriousness in the air. After SPM.. woohoo! Partay!!

I remember the time a group of Americans came visiting our school and so many students totally kau-towed to them just because they were Orang Putih. Aih.. the guys weren't even goodlooking! Our class did a lil Chinese New Year sketch for them and I had to chair some discussion thingy. It was fun!

Spend quite a lot of time on the English newsletter cause i was Editor.. at least i could escape out off the class esp when it was printed - roped Sarah, Christine and Chin Yen in to help with a few others seeking 'refuge' at times.

9. Describe 1st year of coll :

First and only year of coll = best days of my life ever!!!! I somehow ended up in Taylor's doing the SAM programme about 3 weeks late. So far behind in a class of strangers who already knew each other. =P But... as time went on, I got to know ppl, and ppl discovered i wasn't as silent and serious as i made myself out to be and first. Met my long-lost twin and got to know Ruey Chyi really really well after meeting her 4 years before that. Mellie was like our 'adopted' class member cause she spent so much time with ME! =)

It was fantabulous!!! Our whole class clicked so well together, albeit a few odd ones. We ate lunch together, had BBQs, class trips, trip to Genting, Korean BBQ, went to Pyramid together to buy bday pressies, went to prom together (2 tables side by side!) curi-curi watched VCDs in the class (so lucky we were the only class that had a computer and projector!), went ice-skating together.. We did so many crazy things like the time we were teaching each other ball-room dancing (practice for prom mar!) and when the guys piled many many bags on my tummy when i was lying on the table and said it was to practice for the time i get pregnant... then Kelvin attempted to lift the table, me and the bags. I think he succeded... ESL class with Sophia a.k.a. Avril and dear ol Mrs Banu and uncompleted assignments and overdue reports....

Hmm... I think i was quite 'famous' for my 'sleeping skills' - with my head balanced on my shoulders and eyes closed. So unfair! The teachers (esp Mrs Lim) would always pick on me for sleeping in class (or just closing my eyes?) but never seem to notice Sharon with her head down and hair all over her face. Pei Ling said it's bcuz the teachers knew me better. Whatever.. still unfair! hehe.. Ky-Shen didn't help much either.. There was once i was err.. meditating... during maths class when he happily volunteered 'Teacher! I think Quin Lee knows the answer!' I woke up to the class laughing.

SUSHALIQU SAYEERUEY - Su Ching, Sharon, Lilian, ME, Sarah, Yee Sian and Ruey Chyi. Our own lil 'gang' that would go to the same friggin coffeeshop just because they had a TV there and 'some ppl' could watch chinese show. hehe.... Miss you guys!!! You're so far away!!

Oh gosh.. i miss G3 so much!!! It really was THE BEST YEAR OF MY LIFE!! Now, to quote Albert, 'Though we are apart, in heart we are together' (Corny, but true!). We even have a website!
http://www.g3.ineedhosting.net/
Kudos to Melvyn! (OK.. now dun get big headed ah...)

Also, could finally drive!! Woohoo! Automatically became one of the class 'drivers'. One time, coming back from a BBQ at Pei Ling's house, I, Benedict and Lilian were sorta racing. (OK, not sensible, but who can resist when you have a BMW vs Proton Wiras?) Anyway, Bendi and I were sorta neck-to-neck almost approaching Subang and wondering where in the world Lilian was (we thought she was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind). Suddenly, we saw her calmly drive past us, ppl in the car waving and all. Wwe were like 'what the...............???' That girl seriously is a crazier driver than me...

10. Your best friend was?

Lemme see... In Form 1 i think it was Leng Hui and then 'something' happened - she crossed over to the dark side and became a prefect! Then in F2 & 3 it was Mellie and Jille... Then in F4 Aaron Ho and I got really really close and he is stil one of my bestest friends ever! Still my bestest friends - Sandy and Reichi and Mellie. Wouldn't trade you guys in for ANYTHING!!

11. Cafeteria food sucked?

Average, i suppose. Absolutely unhealthy, but the fried bread was quite yummy...

12. Most hilarious school rule?

The no cards rule? Ok.. that sorta makes sense but we had nothing else to do!! Hmmm.. i remember thinking how stupid it was that we could only wear a 'certain' type of school shoes - no canvas and it could not be too high or something. Du-uh. And the 'must have pass to go out of class' rule that i think was probably the most redundant of them all. And i always got in trouble for not wearing my baju kurung pin high enough. Does a couple of centimeters really cover thaaat much more?

13. Wore uniforms?

 Like we had a choice.

14. How was the prom?

Average.. the one I went to in Form 4 was waaay better organized. It was boring just cause i was a 'junior' there. My Form 5 and Taylor's one was pretty much alike.. but oooh! Taylor's one was fun cause my whole class (almost) sat together and we danced the night away!!!

15. Who was the prom king and prom queen?

Can't remember.... who really takes these things seriously anyways?!

16. Any achievements?

Editor for Interact and English Club newsletters, Vice Prez of Interact Club, black belt in Taekwondo, 3 prize in Golf Championship.... blablabla....

17. Were you popular?

I guess? I wasn't invisible, definetely. I suppose i had a nice amount and balance of best friends, good friends, friends and aquaintances. hehe..

18. Best song that reminded you of high school?

Yeap.. Ben Shyen's 'You Suck' song, Usher's 'Heaven'.........

19. Unforgettable high school crush?

There was a whole 'episode' that involved BOTH the Aarons. Not gonna say more.

20. Most embarrassing moment?

That Sadhana thingy *points above*, staining Rachel's chair with the once a month monster, getting my uniform stained with that same err.. substance... Having bad, bad diarrhea where i actually had to leave my underwear in the toilet. haha.. I believe no one knows about this. Here it is now for the world to see!

21. Memory you would like to forget in high school?

Nothing! Memories, good and bad are PRICELESS. Wouldn't change a thing.

22. Best memories?

The fun Mellie, Jillie, Ling and I had, class parties, IU Days (pain in the ass, but still fun), Interact Club events, newsletter creating, sleepovers, creating our Form 5 page for the yearbook, crappy stuff we did when teacher wasn't in class.....

23. Any regrets?

I suppose i would have come out of my 'shell' earlier in my sec school life, i.e. not be such a nerd. But well.......

24. Would you like your future child to attend your school?

As always, it's usually the people, not so much the place that makes something special. So I'd want my child to be in a place where he / she can create his / her own special memories and someday spend 2 hours filling in a questionaire like this.

25. Were the bathrooms clean?

 Yeap. Sure. Right.

... Ok, now it's time to draw myself out of the past and into the present. Aih... chem test tomorrow!!!
